At Mesabi Fit Coalition, our purpose is to strengthen the health and well-being of the Iron Range by providing accessible opportunities for fitness, recreation, and community connection.
As a community-supported nonprofit, we are committed to creating a welcoming environment where individuals and families of all ages and abilities can stay active, build healthy habits, and feel a sense of belonging.

A Place for the Community
The Mesabi YMCA opened in Mountain Iron, providing fitness, recreation, and gathering opportunities for Iron Range residents for more than three decades.
A Community Comes Together
When the YMCA closed, local residents and supporters recognized the importance of preserving this valuable community resource. The nonprofit Mesabi Fit Coalition formed to give the facility a new future.
Mesabi Fit Opens Its Doors
Through community partnerships, donations, grants, and dedicated volunteers, the facility reopened as Mesabi Fit, continuing its legacy of serving the Iron Range.
Continuing Our Commitment
With renewed aquatic amenities, improved locker rooms, fitness programs, and recreational opportunities, Mesabi Fit continues to grow and respond to the needs of our community.
